HOT POT

ON THE ROOF HOT POT

On The Roof's new original work “Hot Pot” is an ever evolving exploration into the results of collaboration, focusing on the relationship between sound and movement.

“Hot Pot” is a mixture of improvisation and set material. Our skills in improvisation have contributed to the production of a living piece of work, meaning that each performance is unique. What adds to the piece’s distinctive nature is the inventive use of space.

As a group, we develop and alter “Hot Pot” according to the spatial structure, atmosphere and feeling of each new venue. This freedom in the use of space and material creates an interactive and unpredictable relationship with the audience. The result is a piece that is full of energy, surprise and imagination.

A duet between a musician and a dancer focusing on rhythm and the ways it manifests itself in the body and the music. A simple rhythmic pulse created by the fundamental movement of walking.

With Zoe Georgallis and William Scott.

FOOT MUSIC

The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady is widely regarded as Charles Mingus' magnum opus, it is certainly an incredible piece of music - human, exciting, rich, raw and sophisticated. The work was originally written in the structure of a dance suite; now the music of the first two movements is presented with choreography by Tony Thatcher - a dynamic interpretation of Mingus' masterpiece.
